Street Food Tour of South Lake Union
Eat Seattle’s chef guides lead two-hour street food tours of South Lake Union, Seattle’s tech district — six tastings, six local businesses, and the neighborhood most visitors never think to walk.
A decade ago this was warehouses. Now it’s the Amazon and Google campuses, forty thousand people who need lunch, and one of the densest street food scenes in the city. Chefs noticed before tourists did.
What you’ll eat
Six stops, drawn from a rotating set of South Lake Union’s best. Routes shift with the day, the guide, and what’s open — private tours run their own itinerary entirely.
Depending on when you come, that might mean Korean-Hawaiian fusion at Marination, Local burger joint, Street, hand-rolled sourdough bagels at Rubinstein, ginger beer from Rachel’s, fried chicken at Ma’ono, or a sweet from Lady Yum. Portions are real — guests regularly tell us they came expecting single bites and left full.
About the Amazon Spheres
The tour ends at Lady Yum next to the Spheres, and we explore them from the outside. They’re a working botanical office for Amazon employees, not a public attraction, so no tour group goes in. What your guide will do is explain what’s actually growing in there and why — the plant collection is genuinely odd, and the story of how this neighborhood transformed is best told standing in front of them.
Why locals take this one
This is our least touristy tour. Guests who live in Seattle regularly tell us they’d never eaten in SLU and had written it off as an office park. Six stops later they’ve usually got a list.
